Job Overview:

The SUD Counselor plays a direct role in facilitating clients along their treatment and recovery plans by providing both individual and group counseling sessions for clients and family members. Both individual and group counseling sessions focus on various topics including withdrawal, holistic recovery, the sober lifestyle, relapse prevention, anger, and additional topics specific to facilitating clients in meeting their treatment and recovery plan goals and objectives. Counselors orient new clients to the programs’ rules, policies and procedures, and patients’ rights. Thorough documentation and record keeping of all client interactions is a key component to HVRC SUD Counselor’s scope of work. The ideal candidate will have experience in crisis management, behavioral counseling, and psychotherapy.

Duties:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' SUD concerns
- Perform diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' needs and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Provide ongoing monitoring and assessment of clients' progress throughout the counseling process
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to facilitate positive change in clients' lives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation in compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Implement crisis management strategies when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of clients

Experience:

• 2 years of professional experience providing alcohol recovery counseling services.
• Unrestricted Substance Abuse Counselor Certification by a CA state approved school as an Alcohol and/or Other Drug Counselor.
• Proven experience in conducting therapy sessions, preferably in a clinical setting.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic evaluation techniques and treatment planning.
• Ability to establish rapport with clients and create a supportive therapeutic environment.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines relating to alcohol, drug, and mental health counseling.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Have a demonstrated ability to manage stress and crisis situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent professional and personal boundaries with staff and clients.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week
